How to soak Dried Hijiki

There are many kinds of Dried Hijiki 乾燥ひじき and the one shown above is one example. These are in smaller size which I prefer as they are easier for young children to eat.Prepare HijikiSoak 10g of Dried Hijiki in a proporation of 1000ml of water. In order to retain its nutrients, try to soak no longer than 30 minutes. The temperature of the soaking water is best to be around 20°C. However, if you are in a hurry, you can soak them in hot boiling water too.

Upon 30 minutes, sift out the Hijiki and discard the water. Gently wash the Hijiki under running tapwater with your hand to ensure all sands and impurites are removed.

The Hijiki are now moist and tender. Safe and ready to use.
